Drought has cost SA R2bn in lost exports

SA’s worst drought in decades has cost the country billions of rand in lost export revenue.  The country’s agricultural exports declined in 2015 for the first time in 10 years, Overall, the country’s agricultural exports shrank from R106bn in 2014 to R104bn in 2015, the business chamber said.

Agbiz/IDC Agribusiness Confidence Index slightly improves in Q2 of 2016

The Agbiz/IDC Confidence Index recovered by 4 index points in the second quarter of this year to 47. An index point below 50 indicates contraction in the South African agribusiness activity. The 47 index point suggests that agribusinesses are still holding a pessimistic view regarding business conditions.
