Agriculture to benefit from boost in railway spending

Rail infrastructure is set to receive a major boost as government mqves ahead with the implementation the National Development Plan (NDP).

A total of R50 billion has been invested in rail infrastructure and more than 1 000 locomotives will be manufactured at a factory to be set up in Nigel. The farming sector would benefit from rail development as stakeholders preferred to transport commodities by rail, which was cheaper and emitted fewer greenhouse gases, according to Dr John Purchase.
