How much more will you pay food in S.A?

Last week South Africa's February consumer price inflation breached the Reserve Bank's inflation target and exceeded analysts' expectations accelerating to 7 per cent year on year in February from 6.2 per cent in January. Inflation was driven higher by food and transport prices. CNBC Africa speaks to Dr John Purchase, CEO at Agricultural Business Chamber about the effect this will have on consumers.

Crop Estimates 2016

South Africa will likely harvest 7.255 million tonnes of maize in 2016, 27 percent less than the 9.95 million tonnes reaped last year because of a scorching drought and late plantings.
