2018 Agbiz Congress | Early-bird registration is closing soon

Standard Bank will again be the main sponsor for the 2018 Agbiz Congress, themed “Uncertain Creates Opportunity”, which will be held at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre in Port Elizabeth, on Thursday 7 June and 8 June 2018. To take advantage of the early-bird rates, please register and pay before 10 March 2018.


Programme

  • Various top international and local experts will address key issues such as the global agro-food environment we operate in, the global and local political economy, and environmental challenges the sectors face. Furthermore, the key issues of land and water reform confronting South Africa and its agriculture system, and the impact technology will have on the competitiveness of South Africa’s industries, will be addressed.

Evening functions

  • Delegates will be welcomed on Wednesday, 6 June 2018 at the official Welcome Function sponsored by Nedbank. The function will be hosted in the conference centre. We encourage you to make travel arrangements so that you can attend this function to meet old and new business acquaintances.
  • The Gala Dinner on Thursday, 7 June 2018 sponsored by John Deere Financial is the social highlight of the congress. The Gala Dinner features excellent food and excellent company.

Student case competition

  • Agbiz will again this year host a student case competition at the congress. This proven successful concept provides students from the major universities in South Africa opportunity to showcase their skills and to network with business leaders. A number of students who participated in this competition in the past has been employed by agribusinesses and has already made their mark in the sector.

  • The congress fees include access to both days of the congress, as well lunches, networking breaks, evening functions and delegate gifts.
  • Please note that only 400 seats are available. Agbiz will allocate these on a first-booked-first-paid basis.
  • Standard registration will be closing on 4 May 2018, and late registration will be closing on 10 May 2018 or as soon as the maximum registrations have been finalised, whichever occurs first.

Accommodation

  • The Boardwalk Hotel will be the preferred accommodation for the 2018 Agbiz Congress. We have negotiated special accommodation rates for Agbiz congress delegates with the Boardwalk Hotel, and we encourage you to reserve or book accommodation now as accommodation may be tight. However, there are alternative nearby accommodation available.
